AES Indiana was the first Indiana utility to offer special electric vehicle rates
In preparation for an anticipated increase in electric vehicle (EV) ownership, AES Indiana offers special EV rates, including time-of-use (TOU) based options for your home or business. We also offer a flat fee for AES Indiana public charging stations.
Customers are eligible to participate in one of the following:
EV Managed Charging Program
If you are interested in upgrading to a Level 2 Juicebox charger, you can purchase through the AES Indiana Marketplace and receive a $250 instant rebate, along with a $50 per year incentive for participating in the program. See more information.
If you already have a compatible Level II charger, you can enroll in EV Managed Charging.
EVX Rate
The EVX time-of-use rate is available to new enrollments for a limited time. AES Indiana will only accept Rate EVX applications through the end of February 2024 – the rate will then be closed to new participants. All existing Rate EVX customers, including those who submit their application prior to February 29, 2024, will remain on the rate with no change to pricing moving forward.
For new enrollments before the February 2024 deadline, a second meter base must be installed by a licensed electrician, tagged, and must meet AES Indiana Goldbook standards. This must be a fully dedicated second meter with only the EV car charger on the circuit. The cost for the labor, equipment and installation of the second meter base is the responsibility of the AES Indiana account holder. AES Indiana will provide the meter. If you are interested, you can contact your local, preferred electrician for a quote.
Once the meter base has been installed and tagged by the electrician, please download and complete the EVX Rate Customer Enrollment form. There are sections for both the customer and the electrical contractor to complete. Please email completed form to our EV Team at electric.vehicle@aes.com. Upon review of the completed form, you will be scheduled for an AES technician to install the meter into the base.
Customers typically receive connection within 1-2 weeks, weather permitting. If our service territory experiences outages (summer or winter storms), the outages will take priority and a customer may wait 1-4 weeks.
