LightBound LLC supports renewable energy for its local operations through IPL's Green Power Option

August 4, 2016

INDIANAPOLIS—LightBound, a leading Indianapolis-based provider of Internet, voice and data solutions, has joined the growing list of environmentally-responsible Indianapolis businesses by enrolling in Indianapolis Power & Light Company's (IPL) Green Power Option.

LightBound recently enrolled 100 percent of its electricity usage at all of its facilities in this voluntary program, which directs IPL to purchase renewable energy from facilities such as Indiana and Midwestern wind farms. "It's an additional cost, but it's good for the environment and good to partner with IPL and take this initiative," said Jack Carr, CEO for LightBound.

Enrolling in the IPL Green Power Option allows businesses both large and small to easily and economically support renewable energy. Enrollment at one of four levels of monthly electricity usage—10, 25, 50 or 100 percent—allows IPL to produce the equivalent amount of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) representing electricity generated by Indiana and Midwestern wind facilities.

Through its participation, LightBound will offset the carbon dioxide emissions equivalent of 3,321 passenger cards driven for one year, or 84 railroad cars of coal burned. Participants in the Green Power Option help support the development of additional renewable energy sources, thereby helping to reduce our reliance on fossil-fueled power.

The Green Power Option is available to both residential and commercial/industrial IPL customers. More information about the Green Power Option, including how to enroll, is available at IPLpower.com/GreenPower. Larger commercial/industrial customers should call the IPL Business Call Center at 317.261.8444 for additional information on the premium or to enroll in the program.
