IPL practices additional sustainability efforts with Indy Free Tree Event

IPL committed to safe and reliable service through year-round tree maintenance

April 26, 2016

INDIANAPOLIS—Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), encourages customers to always be aware of the dangers and negative effects on their quality of electrical service that improperly planted or maintained trees near power lines can cause.

IPL works with its contractor, Wright Tree Services, to keep Indianapolis neighborhoods safe and beautiful while maintaining safe and reliable electrical service. Operating on a 36-month cycle, IPL provides various customer notifications to residents who will have work performed on their trees, such as bill notifications, newspaper notices, door hangers and home visits. Directly following a routine trim, IPL will haul away the debris.

For more important information about IPL’s  routine tree maintenance program and homeowner responsibilities, visit IPL’s new blog, +Stories (pronounced “Positive Stories”).

Passersby can put these tips to good use when they get in line for the Indy Free Tree event sponsored by IPL each Arbor Day to support ongoing sustainability efforts. This year, the Indy Free Tree event will give away 1,000 Tulip trees to commemorate Indiana’s bicentennial on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to one per family. Additional details are below:
