IPL celebrates Arbor Day with annual Indy Free Tree event

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.— Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), will celebrate Arbor Day by sponsoring the annual Indy Free Tree event to support ongoing sustainability efforts. To celebrate, IPL will give away 1,000 Shingle Oak trees on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to one per family. Additional details are below:

              WHEN:           11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2019

              WHERE:        Monument Circle in front of the IPL building

              VISUALS:     A short event program will commence promptly at 11 a.m. with IPL Senior Vice President of Customer Operations Joe Bentley, City of Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, and Indiana Assistant State Forester Dan Ernst addressing the crowd in celebration                                            of ongoing sustainability efforts.

IPL encourages passersby who receive a tree during the event to download our Right Tree Right Place brochure and look for tips to plant smart and with the utilities in mind.

For the sixteenth year, IPL is recognized as a Tree Line USA utility. Tree Line USA utilities must meet certain standards—training employees in quality tree-care practices, educating the public about planting trees for energy conservation and helping homeowners plant appropriate trees near utility lines—to be considered for the award.
