AES Indiana launches Smart Map to give customers increased visibility into modernization projects

Today, AES Indiana, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), launched a new technology that provides customers with increased visibility into infrastructure upgrades being made throughout Central Indiana as part of revAMP – a seven-year plan to invest $1.2 billion in the modernization of the electric grid. The AES Indiana Smart Map provides customers with real-time visualization of AES revAMP projects and upgrades.

The Smart Map is an online portal that allows customers the ability to quickly gain information about revAMP projects taking place in their community – on their own time, through their own devices. With Smart Map, AES Indiana is giving customers more visibility of its projects with real-time information.

“Our AES Indiana crews are hard at work this summer across our entire service territory working to ensure our grid can keep up with the evolving customer needs well into the future,” said Mike Shruba, VP, AES Indiana Transmission and Distribution. “We continually look to enhance the customer experience and use technology that keeps up with customer expectations.”

The investments AES Indiana is making will address the upgrade and replacement of aging equipment, hardware, and other assets. In addition, new technology, equipment, and systems, including a self-healing electric grid and “Smart” AMI meters and other technology that automatically indicate when the power is out, as well as inform estimated time of restoration during outages are being installed throughout Central Indiana.
