People Behind Your Power: Katie Heard

The people behind your power are people just like you. We live, work and play in Central Indiana. We have families, pets, hobbies, and quirks. We volunteer and strive to make a difference. We are also a part of a dedicated team focused on powering your essential needs.

Meet Katie Heard, Customer Program Lead for AES Indiana. Katie oversees various aspects of our energy efficiency programs to ensure they run smoothly. This includes planning, designing and managing programs that benefit our customers. She joined the AES Indiana Demand Side Management (DSM) team in March 2021, where she had similar responsibilities as a Program Manager at CLEAResult. In January 2023, she was promoted to DSM Lead. Katie has been with AES Indiana for three years. Here’s more about Katie:

• She’s a native of Rushville, IN, and attended college at Ball State University. Since graduating, she has made Indianapolis her home.
• At the age of 16, Katie became a certified lifeguard — her first job. For six years after, she served as a lifeguard and eventually became the Head Lifeguard.
• Katie is a self-proclaimed crime junkie who listens to or watches anything related to true crime — whether it’s podcasts or TV shows. She even had the chance to meet Ashley Flowers, the host of the Crime Junkies podcast and founder of audiochuck, at an AES Indiana sponsored event. As a fellow Crime Junkie, Katie was thrilled when audiochuck donated $100,000 to AES Indiana’s Power of Change program.
• Katie lives by the mantra, “I haven’t failed; I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work,” attributed to Thomas Edison. According to her, if she didn’t live by this, she would’ve failed years ago.
