People Behind Your Power: Jessey Swails

June 5, 2024

The people behind your power are people just like you. We live, work and play in Central Indiana. We have families, pets, hobbies, and quirks. We volunteer and strive to make a difference. We are also a part of a dedicated team focused on powering your essential needs.

Meet Jessey Swails, Journeyman Lineman. Jesse constructs, maintains, and monitors equipment on the electrical grid serving AES Indiana customers. His role involves safely installing and repairing electrical power systems, including transmission and distribution lines. He performs routine checks and troubleshooting issues that arise and responds to emergencies such as power outages and storm damage to restore service quickly and safely. His work is critical in maintaining the efficiency and stability of the electrical grid for the Indianapolis community and AES Indiana customers. Jesse has been with AES Indiana for seven and a half years.

Here’s more about Jesse:

  • Jessey chose to work at AES Indiana because he believes it offers him a unique opportunity to contribute to the well-being of the Indianapolis community while staying true to faith and his personal values and beliefs.
  • One thing people might not know about Jesse is that he renovated a 40-foot bus into an RV and lived in it with his family for a year and a half.
  • Jessey, along with his family, owns a Christmas tree farm, where they enjoy the tradition of spreading joy during the holiday season.
  • Jessey is currently reading the book Talking Back to Purity Culture by Rachel Joy Welcher, exploring themes of faith, identity, and societal norms.
  • Currently, Jessey is binging Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, finding solace and adventure in the magical world of Hogwarts.
  • Jessey and his family volunteer at Shepherd Community on East Washington Street on Saturdays in their pantry and assist neighbors with their physical needs. Jessey also donates Christmas trees annually and participates in their Christmas event.
