People Behind Your Power: India Lowe

The people behind your power are people just like you. We live, work and play in Central Indiana. We have families, pets, hobbies, and quirks. We volunteer and strive to make a difference. We are also a part of a dedicated team focused on powering your essential needs.

Meet India Lowe, Safety Specialist II with T&D Operations. India manages the execution of our Safety Management System (SMS), policies, programs, and procedures, along with enhancing our safety culture. She started with the company in September 2022.

Here’s more about India:

• Her “why” is to wake up and walk with a purpose. She wants to be the smile someone may need to see, the voice someone may need to hear, and the story someone may need to read.
• One of her favorite quotes: “It’s more important to do the right thing than to do things right” by Management Consultant and educator Peter Drunker. She believes in this industry it is important to lead by example and to educate others on why safety is important and why it is just as important to always put our best foot forward in the workplace.
• India was born in Indianapolis but raised between Indianapolis and Chicago. Her family was deeply rooted in Chicago where her great grandmother, Mary Cowherd, was the Cook County Housing President and a community matriarch.
• India is an active member of the Marion County Medical Reserve Corp (MRC) and the Marion County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
• The best advice she’s ever been given: “Treat each day as if it’s your last first day.”
• A few fun facts about India:
  • Growing up she wanted to be a fashion designer
  • Her first job was at Popeyes
  • She was a contestant on one of her favorite game shows, Wheel of Fortune
  • She’s been told she looks like Gina from the TV show Martin (actress Regina "Gina" Payne)
