People behind Your Power: Bette White
The people behind your power are people just like you. We live, work and play in Central Indiana. We have families, pets, hobbies, and quirks. We volunteer and strive to make a difference. We are also a part of a dedicated team focused on powering your essential needs.
Meet Bette White, Substation Design Engineer. Bette coordinates construction efforts among suppliers, contractors, and other employees to ensure AES Indiana can safely transition the power from the high voltage lines to customer houses and large businesses. She has been with AES Indiana for more than 33 years and with the power industry for more than 40 years.
Here’s more about Bette:
- Bette was our company’s first female electrical engineer, in a traditionally male-dominated field.
- She was born and raised in Indianapolis and wanted to be an electrical engineer when she grew up.
- She likes working at AES Indiana because it’s challenging, interesting and she’s a part of a company that provides reliable power to the people and businesses in the community.
- What many people don’t know about Bette is she’s walked on the Great Wall of China and volunteers to work on the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana.
- The best piece of advice she ever received: Treat others as you want to be treated.
- Her first job was mowing lawns and pet sitting while in grade school.
- If she could live anywhere in the world, she would live where she lives now. “I’m right where I am, doing what I’m supposed to be doing!”
